Devastated, unnerved,
then quickly discarded.
Stranded and deserted,
easily forgotten.
No matter the scars,
the pain is unseen.
You've fallen so far,
this must be a dream.
What's more painful, betrayal,
and no one can hear you.
No matter the prayers,
there's no one to free you.
There's no rope or harness,
entangled by isolation.
Engulfed by the darkness,
emotional suffocation.
Someone approaches,
their footsteps resound.
You scream with great force,
but they don't hear a sound.
They leave you behind,
like you don't exist.
Until one day, you find
someone making a wish.
They peer down in the well,
daydreaming of a better life.
A beautiful soul, you can tell,
but overcome with strife.
By now, you've lost your voice,
somehow a whimper comes out.
Daydreamer hears a faint noise,
and then begins to shout.
"Is anyone there?"
"Please help me," you yell.
"I hear you, I care."
They rescue you from the well.
You cling to this moment
for the rest of your days,
to heal from the torment
and forget all the pain.
