Gentle Heart

How can ones who miraculously defied gravity
and proved themselves to eternity
by overcoming adversity
and maintaining the decency
to spread kindness and empathy
be treated so abnormally?

The egregious anomaly
is being treated, not as family,
but with inequity
for something petty
like having a different history.
Nonsensical mystery.

It would have spared a lot of suffering
to be treated with understanding and bravery.
Instead of being dismissed as a bother,
being regarded with honor,
or simply being accepted,
rather than continuously dejected.

The pain may still cut like a knife,
but new life brings meaning.
Continue building your honorable life
and embracing your family;
they are your nobility and purpose.
The babies are of utmost importance.
